Gui and his friends are reading Os sertões (Backlands: The Canudos Campaign) and are impressed by the Canudos War. What they didn’t expect was that almost a century later, the situation would repeat itself in their town, and a religious zealot would emerge, rallying fanatics to rebel against the powerful.
