The Chronicles of

Scliar

Starting in the 1970s, he dedicated himself earnestly to this genre, maintaining a constant presence in widely circulated newspapers. From 1973 until 2011, he wrote weekly for the newspaper Zero Hora on everyday topics, health, well-being, and current events. In 1993, he began writing a column for Folha de S. Paulo, creating fictional stories based on real events.

This space is dedicated to Scliar’s chronicles. With his keen eye, the author uses details of daily life as raw material, always infused with humor.

In Scliar’s own words, the chronicle is a breath of fresh air, a gap in the often suffocating mass of news. It is an eminently Brazilian literary genre, which, in the hands of great chroniclers, has produced true masterpieces. With its characteristic personal touch, the chronicle humanizes the medium, bringing joy and emotion to the reader.
